We woke up on Sat with lots of rain even masa sahur. Hmmmmmm, not gonna be a very "nice" day today tapi tak pe lah.... Rafidah was supposed to be here quite early tapi dia tertidur… sejuk agaknya, best tidur. She was here around 8:30 am and so we were deciding where to go for groceries. Initially we wanted to go to a Sat market somewhere but then decided on Aldi in Rijswik.
No need to convert to RM la ek but things here are relatively cheap… imagine, groceries almost full in cart totaled to only around EUR40!! It would have been more than RM300 in KL!!! I got a few fish, “gambas” (prawns), veges, chocolates and many more to fill it up….. Once done with the groceries, we all decided to walk around in the Rijswik town.
In Rijswik town....
Ini lah Rafidah - yang banyak tolong kita kat sini
Background tu Sat market; Tini in front of the roses stall; the town again....
Quite nice actually…. And tak sangka pulak kat sini pun ada Sat market… Got quite a huge pack of M&Ms for Haikal at only EUR1.. and a pyjama (NL color – bright orange!) for EUR6…and imagine, 20 stalks of roses for only EUR3.50! Nasib baik masa kat sini, the rain stopped…. phewwww
OK… enough of Rijswick so we then headed for “Maria Clara”.. that’s the name of the Cheese Farm & Clog Factory that we wanted to go to….Quite far, actually, towards Amsterdam but because of the rain, it seemed OK to drive out.
We got lost a bit but hey, over here it’s all about GPS… and we arrived around 1pm… We had to wait a bit before the person in charge explained to us all about making cheese…. She said, there’s no need to refrigerate the cheese because it will take away the “freshness” of the flavour. And after sifting and all those processes… lama jugak nak dapatkan THE cheese that we eat. The longer the cheese, it gets smaller in size and the color turns darker in shade… Dia comparekan cheese yang baru a few weeks, 1 year and even 6 years!!! Lagi lama, lagi keras lak tu! Dia siap ketuk cheese tu kat kayu.. mak ooi!!

If not for the fasting month, sure dah try all sorts of cheese available.... maybe nanti boleh gi tempat lain pulak ek?
The lady explaining how cheese are made... those are real cheese back there and they can be a few years old!
And the old pisau used to cut cheese....
Kat situ pun ada tempat buat clog – yupp... the infamous “terompah” kayu tu. Actually it’s very confortable la wearing those clogs and it helps for those yang selalu sakit belakang... and of course it keeps you & your feet warm during these cold weather. I didn’t quite believe it until I tried…. So I got one for my fren yang kirim suruh beli & a softer version for Haikal… no size cute enough for Meen, though.
The clogs in process & after dah siap; Haikal with the windmill outside the factory
Haikal's version of the (soft) clog... and these cheese (for 19 euros) can probably last us till end of our stay!
Dah siap beli cheese & souvenirs… so we headed home… sempatlah nak solat Zohor kat rumah….
Malam tu, we decided to go for a free Malaysian berbuka at the embassy (Tini kepenatan so dia tak nak ikut)… we arrived almost close to maghrib… tapi disappointing nya. Tak rasa welcomed langsung!!! Tapi makanan OK la.. macam-macam ada (rupanya it’s a potluck concept – mana lah nak tahu!) Dah makan yang ringan-ringan (which is like mee goreng & kuih-muih – makan ni pun dah kenyang!) semua bergerak for maghrib berjemaah.... lepas tu makan lagi! Kali ni makan nasi & lauk-pauk... masyaAllah, nak terburai perut rasanya... tapi we decided to cabut awal (instead of staying for terawih) sebab tak friendly environment dia (and only then did I find out that it’s a lady ambassador and that she has no family.... Bukan ke as an ambassador, if you see a non-familiar face, you should at least make the effort to ask…??? Hmmmmmm….. anyway, nasib baik balik awal sebab Fidah was on call (ada issue) and by the time we all sampai apt, Haikal pun dah tido!
Malam tu, tidur pengsan!!!
